The Ultimate Safari
Greater Kruger Private Reserves
Few areas of the world can match the richness and diversity of its flora and fauna than the Greater Kruger. The Kruger National Park is home to 140 different mammal species, 500 bird species as well as a myriad of reptile, insect, amphibian and plant species. Some of Africa's finest private reserves including Sabi Sands, Timbavati and Thornybush, are located on the boundary of the National Park, where fences have been dropped, allowing the free flow of animals in and out of the park. These reserves are famed for their pristine wilderness, diverse habitats and an abundance of wildlife, including a particularly healthy leopard population.
The safari guides in these reserves are some of the most qualified and experienced in the field, ensuring unparalleled wildlife viewing. The lodges are exclusive and intimate, exquisitely designed and brimming with style and elegance, whilst respecting the natural environment.
Choose one or a combination of reserves for an unforgettable wildlife experience. Alongside game viewing in open vehicles, you also can lose yourself in nature with bush-walks, birding, night drives and treehouse sleep-outs. Between safaris enjoy sumptuous local cuisine, a relaxing spa treatment or simply recline by the pool with a good book.
If you are driving between lodges, take time to travel via the Panorama Route with its dramatic passes, waterfalls and the awesome Blyde River Canyon. Alternately, fly between camps in a chartered light aircraft to save time and take in the splendour of the stunning scenery from the air.

The Garden Route Self Drive Meander
An exciting mix of city culture, winelands and beaches awaits you on this adventurous road trip, culminating in a magical safari to finish. South Africa is the only country in the world where you can experience a “Big Five” safari in malaria free areas, so this trip is ideal for families.

Going with the Flow
The Great Zambezi & Victoria Falls

Just north of South Africa and situated between the slow flowing Limpopo River in the south and the Mighty Zambezi in the north, lies Zimbabwe, a diverse and dynamic country blessed with spectacular scenery and unspoiled wilderness.
Fly into the lively town of Victoria Falls, and before long you are taking your first river safari on the vast winding Zambezi on the way to your lodge. Look out for pods of hippo, crocodiles and malachite kingfishers skimming the surface of the water. Wildlife and birdlife abounds the course of the river, including fish eagles, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and herds of elephant bathing at the water's edge. Stay in a tented riverside lodge in the middle of the Zambezi National Park, where you quite literally feel at one with nature, from the moment the sun rises each morning bringing the animal kingdom to life. Each day choose between a river safari or game drive in the morning /afternoon or, for the more intrepid, an exhilarating guided canoe safari for a really immersive experience.
Victoria Falls itself, is located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia and is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, "Thundering Smoke", it is one of the largest waterfalls on the planet, and the shear scale and roar of the water is enough to take your breath away. Surrounding the falls is the rain forest, with a network of paths and lookout points to enjoy the awe inspiring views of this natural phenomenon. Take a "Flight of Angels" helicopter ride directly over the falls, to appreciate their full magnificence from the air. Zimbabwe has so much to offer as a destination in its own right, but given it's proximity to South Africa it also pairs beautifully as a multi-destination safari, combining two very different eco-systems, landscapes and cultural experiences.
The Great Whale Trail
Hermanus & Gansbaii Marine Safari
At a certain time of the year, between the months of June and November, southern right whales make their journey in large numbers from Antartica to the sheltered coves of the Western Cape in South Africa, to display, mate, calve and generally frolic in the surf. Hermanus, a sleepy town about 90 minutes drive from Cape Town has been awarded the title of Whale Watching Capital of the World, for being one of the best locations on the planet to view this remarkable spectacle. Often breaching as close as 30 meters to the shoreline, these gentle giants of the deep are truly a wonder of the natural world and an incredible sight to behold. Take a boat trip out to get an even closer view and you may also be lucky enough to see humpbacks and Brydes whales, dolphins and Cape fur seals.
The nearby fishing town of Gansbaii is also a well known attraction for the marine enthusiast and nature lover. Famed for its shark cage diving expeditions, here you can enjoy the thrill of coming face to face with great white and copper sharks.
The area around Hermanus has impressive coastal scenery, sandy beaches and lagoons. It's a paradise for bird watchers, with marine birds like the African penguin and the African black oystercatcher making it their home.
Hermanus and Gansbaii are a must for those interested in marine wildlife but are also a great starting point for a trip down the Garden Route or as part of a Cape Town or Winelands holiday.
