A Day on Safari....

A typical day coincides with the activity of the wildlife and the rhythm of the African bush.

Morning

Wake up with an early morning call. Meet for  a cup of coffee and rusks before setting out on a drive or walk at sunrise to experience the natural world coming to life. This time of day is cooler, the wildlife is most active and easier to spot. You may stop for refreshment in the bush before heading back to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and time to relax.

Afternoon

During the heat of the day your time is your own. Swim in the lodge pool, read, or learn more about the wildlife you have seen on your safari. Lunch is around 1pm which may be at the lodge or in the bush under an acacia tree.

Afternoon tea is about 3pm before heading back out to the wilderness for a safari.  The afternoon is again cooler and the predators begin to emerge from their siesta. The prey are more active at this time promising some great wildlife viewing opportunities.  As the dusk draws in, you will most probably stop for a "sun-downer" to watch the glorious setting sun with refreshment.

Evening

The safari continues as the sun sets and you wend your way back to the lodge. Early evening brings the nocturnal birds and animals out.  The tracker may shine a spotlight to find owls, nightjars, chameleons, mammals such as bushbabies, aardvarks and honey badgers, and the predators who choose to hunt under the cover of darkness. This is the best time to spot the elusive leopard high up in a tree.  When you return to the lodge you will have time for a quick shower and a pre-dinner aperitif before sitting down to a delicious African dinner. The evenings are often rounded off with a glass of your favourite tipple around the camp fire, stargazing and discussing the days events.
